About

Hi. I'm Bethany.

In a former life, I was that eccentric music teacher who nagged middle and high school kids to practice. Now I'm home with two small children. Sometimes I get paid to play music, but mostly I'm a jungle gym for my offspring.

I like cooking, (badly) crafting and inventing complicated systems in search of household efficiency. I dislike discovering that the coffee pot is empty.

Here I am with Mr. Husband. We met on a bus to Target when we were in college and took it from there, marrying in 2010. Mr. Husband likes sports, reading fiction and history, and film. He dislikes how quickly the linoleum in the kitchen becomes unbearably grubby.

Here is our firstborn, Sir Toddler, who came into our lives three years later.

He likes trucks, trains, and pretending that everything else is trucks and trains. He dislikes leaving the house without his Thomas hat.

Lady Infant came careening into the family 21 months after Sir Toddler.

She likes Sir Toddler's trucks and testing the limits of our baby-proofing. She dislikes being discovered and redirected from eating Sir Toddler's smallest trucks or breaking into baby-proofed areas.

We live together in a small two-bedroom apartment in New England, and make frequent pilgrimages to the playground, Market Basket, and the construction site behind the post office. Here are our stories of the ordinary and the mundane.
